About Meg Schwend

I am a pet portrait artist and art educator based in Kansas City, Missouri. Producing accurate and lively pet portraits is my specialty and passion! I love providing clients a snapshot of their pet and their associated happy memories. Pets are steadfast in their love and affection toward us. In the uncertain world we live in, pets bring us comfort and joy -  free from all judgement. 

Early in my career I worked at a natural history model-making studio, helping to produce natural history models for museums, zoos, and aquariums. Through his fun and rewarding experience, I developed strong observational drawing and painting skills. This position required artistic accuracy to bring extinct animals "back to life". I have carried these skills over to my pet portraits as I emphasize accurate proportions, color, and texture.
